Gary Laird

Gary was born in Sydney in 1955 and began his career professionally in 1976. He is a contemporary landscape artist and is best known for his contemporary interpretation of the Australian landscape conveying its textures, climate, light and atmosphere.

Gary works in oil, acrylic watercolour and mixed media. He has a unique technique and style and his current favored medium is acrylic though is also noted for his works in oil and watercolor.

His works have been purchased by Sutherland Shire Council, Kiama Municipal Council, the Maritime Services Board and the University of Wollongong. Gary's work is also represented in private and corporate collections throughout Australia, Japan, Canada, U.S.A., England, Italy, South Africa and South America.

He has been the recipient of numerous art awards. During 1997-98, he completed major commissions for OPTUS, the Australian telecommunications giant.
